so while I've been over here and going to karaoke and shit, I've found quite a few songs that are REALLY good and worth getting the word out about. I know probably like 4 people on my list give a shit or will bother looking these up on youtube (omfg don't be lazy do it they're soooooo good), but whatev.
Stuff I can/do sing: Ayana--Last Regrets (ballad) <--Helps me work on my range Lia--Tori no Uta (dance? dunno really) <--It defines ani-son but EVERY Japanese person I have met here knows it, including a couple 30-something women :3 Angela Aki--Tegami ~Haikei Juugo no Kimi e~ (piano ballad) <--A guy should have sang this, it sounds amazing FLOW--Days (melodic rock) <--Has a rough rap part but whatev Sharan-Q--Shinguru Beddo (ballad) <--DNA^2's ED that's REALLY overshadowed by Blurry Eyes (which is still better) Arianne--Komm, Susser Tod (man if you don't know what genre this is go listen to it) <--FEEL THE BEST THING I COULD DO IS END IT ALL AND LIVE FOREVER Can't remember--Yume no Naka e (country) <--All country music should be like this Akino Arai--Voices (progressive slow techno) <--One of the best songs I have ever heard, opening to Macross Plus
Others/hard shit: AKINO--Sousei no Aquarion (rock ballad?) <--The English version by Yoko Kanno is even better Ami Suzuki--Free Free (hard dance) <--I listened to another of her songs and it sucked, beware :< Ai Otsuka--Sakuranbo (cute pop)<-- This song will never go out of style here haha
Oh my god, I passed Japanese! I'm glad I made it through, Kashima-sensei has such a hands-off "teaching" style that I felt it was really tough to learn anything unless I made practice exercises and study sheets for myself at home. Yaginuma next semester, so quizzes GALORE (SUCH an easier way to keep it in memory)!
Also I've been getting pretty good at pop'n Music, though I still have a ways to go. I guess I can make a resolution to 100k a 40 by the end of this month, since I'm getting really close. Schala also started playing, and al ready got her first 100k with cools: http://popnnavy.com/s-viewsong.php?songid=jsoul_a&mode=9
Shannon wants to borrow Guitar Freaks. For what purpose, I'm not sure but whatever. I think our relationship has gotten a lot better since last year, much of it due to work on her part to be more understanding of other people's feelings. I still need improvement though, and that's something I'd really like to work on since I am the one who always fucks things up now.
Played some PIU the other day, which I very very rarely get to do. Almost S'd Will 'o the Wisp Crazy so that made me really happy. My ITG has been dormant though, I've gotta get more practice in on that. I wish we had PIU Pro around here :(
On the anime front, CLANNAD's taking a break so I'm kind of at a low point. Da Capo II is actually pretty good (not comparing it to the game, just other anime), but there is only one group subbing it and they're 6 episodes behind schedule. I guess more people want that generic mech/fighting/shounen bullshit that I wish didn't exist most of the time. I picked up Kodomo no Jikan TV again after the uncut DVDs got released, and honestly it's not nearly as bad as the manga is with it's incessant eroticism. The manga has more purpose in the characters' actions though, and there's a lot more depth behind the story. In the first two episodes alone I spotted 5 or 6 inconsistencies the animation studio used to tie manga chapters together, and they just don't fit right. Rin Kokonoe's voice sucks too, but whatever.
For regular games, I REALLY want to pick up Shadow of Colossus sometime, I've wanted to play that game for a while and now it's kinda hard to find :/ Got Super Mario Galaxy for christmas, and it's the first game in 2 years that I've played and NOT WANT TO PUT DOWN after 5 or 6 hours of gameplay. I miss games like these. Though, as was said on VJArmy forums, it's not exactly as free-roaming as it's father, SM64. I miss that aspect, though the additions add up to a game of comparable glory to the greatest titles of the N64 era.
I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of social norms, and realizing a lot of my friends and I have kind of a close relationship. It's not bad to have close friends, but I'm starting to feel uncomfortable on occasion. Anyways, I've learned to talk more instead of being so receptive (shannon noticed the change too lately), so sometimes I feel like I'm talking a LOT, but I'm really just trying to give someone feedback instead of being the "secret holder" (not literally, just in my way of talking/listening) the way I used to be. I think Japanese has helped me realize the social mannerisms in this country more than I could have understood living in it without any outside influence.
Today is the anniversary of my first date. I feel like I can't go back to that time, but I would like to relive something like it. Shannon has lost interest in my previous girlfriend (which is a good thing), but I feel like she was also an important part of my life, and I can't just forget her completely. I'm not sure how Shannon feels, but hopefully she understands. It's funny, Shannon always puts emphasis on more serious "firsts" in the relationship, like a kiss or our first time meeting as a couple (which wasn't anything close to a date in my opinion). All I care about is the first date I ever had (possibly because I see all my other "first" experiences as negative), though I honor Shannon's wishes for some kind of anniversary celebration with her every year. I asked Shannon if we could go out on a date today, but I'm not sure she'll want to. Hopefully everything goes well :)
I wanna get the CP members together and play ITG for a few hours someday soon. Not that bullshit ONE hour that Justin and Dre and them all do now, but SEVERAL hours of ITG. Just to have fun with eachother.
Anyways, hope this wasn't tl for you people. GABE OUT!
Rofl Japan. A few of you have all ready seen this, I'll provide the translation for those of you who don't speak Japanese. Click on the thumbnail for a larger picture.
Attention: In this game, every girl you can date is OVER 18. This is because there are absolutely NO middle school or elementary school girls in it.

This is LIA's second remix CD, L2 (which stands for Enigmatic 2). LIA is a member of the group I'VE, who mostly make OPs and EDs for OVAs and for visual novels (essentially eroge/h-games with very little sex, or none at all). Her normal music is absolute crap with only one exception: Tori no Uta. Yet, somehow she can pull through on these remixes like she's been doing it her whole life. I much prefer this to Enigmatic, which only had a couple good songs on it IMO.
I'm doing this for you people who haven't heard it yet; it's quite amazing, and I wouldn't want anyone to miss out. Even the songs I had no idea about turned out really good on this album, and the only song I don't like is a song that sounds like a warm-up for LIA to show-off her unwavering voice and range.
It's Hardcore Trance/Rave pretty much, and has a bit of J-CORE in some of the songs (which is more like Hardcore Gabba). A few of the tracks are in English, and LIA surprisingly only has a few problems with singing in English. Lovesick Maze is probably the best English song on the album. A few of the songs have little musical changes, such as where Lovesick Maze goes into swing, creating a very Gabba-like effect. Yet, even though LIA is still singing in eighths, it works with the music.
This album is zipped, and it's in a 192-320 kbps VBR mp3 format, 44.1 kHz. It is cut perfectly, and is meant to be played gaplessly; this is essentially a mix.
I will not upload Disc 2 because it's crap that LIA did herself and sounds like a bunch of shitty ballads as usual. It's also part of some Comiket limited edition thing or something, but it's still easy to find on your own if you want it.
Please comment, even if you've all ready had and listened to this album.
